Heidi (formally Ski Zoom), a travel business that uses smart technology to connect people to low-cost, high-quality mountain holiday destinations, came to TTC in 2018 to ask for support with its launch. Founders Alexander and Marcus Blunt knew there were several barriers to starting a travel business, one being the complexity of getting an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL). They were recommended TTC to support Heidi’s needs and got in touch.
The TTC Finance team, led by Adam Pennyfather, immediately got to work by helping Heidi register on Companies House, meet stakeholders, including merchant acquirers and legal firms, set up booking conditions and understand the VAT requirements. We also ensured Heidi’s ATOL was processed and granted as quickly as possible.
Start-up businesses don’t always realise financial health is fundamental to the successful running of a company, but Alexander and Marcus knew they needed robust financial foundations. TTC Finance helped set up systems and processes to produce clear, useful accounts with travel-specific commentary allowing them to make the right decisions at the right time to grow the business.
The data we provided has driven significant company decisions. Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, the management accounts set up by TTC ensured Heidi always had a clear picture of where it stood, and the business has emerged from the pandemic in a strong position. We continue to work with Alexander and Marcus, providing flexible support which they can dial up and down based on the company’s needs.
