Last week, Sarah and Lucy headed to this year’s Travel by B Corp AGM. It was a day filled with conversation, reflection, and, refreshingly, some very practical ideas on how we can make a real difference.
If you’re not familiar with Travel by B Corp, it’s a growing community of certified B Corporations working in the travel and tourism space. The aim? To do business in a way that’s responsible and thoughtful, and has a positive impact, not just on the bottom line, but on people and the planet too.
We’ve been part of the group for a little while now, and this year’s gathering reminded us why we joined in the first place.

The UK is (unexpectedly) leading the way
One stat that caught a few people off guard – the UK now has the largest number of B Corps in the world. Even more than the US, where the whole thing began. The travel sector makes up a decent slice of that, which is encouraging in itself.
It’s easy to assume the UK’s role in all this is smaller, but clearly, something’s happening here. And businesses across travel are getting more serious about how they operate and what they stand for.
The group is growing and finding its rhythm
Travel by B Corp now has over 40 members, and there’s a real sense of momentum.
It didn’t feel like just another industry meet-up. People were genuinely up for sharing, asking questions, and comparing notes, not in a showy way, just in that helpful, “we’ve been there too” kind of way.
We spent part of the day chatting through SHIPS (Shared Impact Projects). These are collaborative ideas focused on action, not just discussion. The goal is to find practical ways we can work together to make a meaningful difference.
There were plenty of good suggestions, and it felt like the kind of session that might actually turn into something concrete.
Great speakers. And a cinema.
In the afternoon, we walked over to the Ritzy in Brixton (which, by the way, is an excellent event venue) to hear from two guest speakers.
First was Busayo Twins, who brought a brilliant mix of humour and honesty. Then, Solitaire Townsend, founder of the influential Futerra agency. Both gave us a lot to think about.
We then headed to the roof of Intrepid Travel’s office, which was the perfect way to end the day. Good people, great views, and one of those early summer evenings that make you wish you’d brought sunglasses.
