ABTA has now sent out renewal letters for any bonds due by the end of March 2026. It may be a few months away, but ABTA has asked for renewal packs to be in as soon as possible. Here are some simple, worthwhile tips from our sister company, The Travel Vault, to help you get ahead and enjoy a smooth renewal process:

1. Keep those accounts tidy

The Travel Vault has long-standing relationships with insurers, and one thing they know for certain is that underwriters really appreciate a good, detailed, up-to-date set of accounts. A little housekeeping now can save you a lot of back-and-forth later.

2. Don’t panic if one insurer can’t cover your entire bond

There will be cases where a single insurer may not be able to give you the level of bond ABTA has asked for, but this doesn’t need to be bad news. You can use multiple insurers to get the amount you need. If this sounds complicated, The Travel Vault can help you coordinate a multi-insurer solution tailored to your needs.

3. Read the bonding options carefully

Once ABTA has assessed your bond renewal forms, you’ll receive a notification from ABTA containing two or more bonding options for you to choose from. Deciding which option is best means considering the capacity available and the rates charged for both the insurance premium and the contribution due to ABTA’s shortfall insurance. The Travel Vault team can work with you to help you make the right decision.

4. Send your ABTA offer letter ASAP

Getting ahead of the crowd is always a good idea, so when that offer letter comes through, send it over to your bond provider immediately. This ensures you’re ahead of the curve, allowing the payment elements and final stages of the process to be completed well before the inevitable rush.

5. Keep an eye on your inbox

Underwriters may have follow-up questions, and the sooner you reply, the smoother your timeline will be. These queries usually arrive via email, so if something drops in your inbox, responding promptly really helps.

The Travel Vault specialises in securing competitive bonding solutions from approved insurers. The team’s expertise in the travel industry means they understand the complexities of renewal season and are there to help make the process as seamless and efficient as possible.
