Alongside our sister companies, The Travel Vault and Stonecot Trustees, we’ve been keeping busy supporting our local charity partner, Age UK East London.

The charity works across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham, where pensioner poverty is among the highest in the UK. Its aim is to make East London a place where older people feel connected, supported and able to live with dignity.

Over the past few months, our team has been getting involved through volunteering, donations and fundraising.

In July, we helped out at the Fabulous Flamingoes Monthly Tea Party, which brings local older people together for an afternoon of food, conversation and entertainment. We set up the space, served tea, coffee, and lunch, and donated some kitchen items to join their beautiful collection of teapots and teacups.

Rosh, Client Relations Executive at The Travel Vault, said,  ‘It was wonderful meeting members of the local older population. We had some really warm, lovely interactions while helping out. It was also great to see that many of the attendees knew each other and checked in on each other’s wellbeing throughout the day. It was clear that over time the Marie Lloyd Centre has provided them with an opportunity to form a truly supportive community.’

A few weeks later, Nikitha Purohit, Business Support Assistant, volunteered at one of Age UK East London’s weekly dance fitness classes.

With her own dance experience, Nikitha helped demonstrate movements and encourage less mobile attendees to get involved, whether by waving their arms, moving their feet or singing along.

Nikitha said: ‘The attendees were so kind, welcoming and clearly committed to regularly getting involved with this class. I loved the opportunity to spread the joy they already had in the room and help the dance class to be even more accessible.’

We're walking the Thames Moonlight 10

Our team is taking part in an evening walk around London for our charity partner, Age UK East London.

Please help us reach our donation target.

Donate to our walk

Our next challenge involves a little more walking.

On 11 September, a group of us will take on the 10km Thames Moonlight Walk to raise money for the self-funded charity.

Elena Bigu, Finance and Regulatory Analyst: ‘I am excited to walk with my team for a great cause. I hosted a bake sale recently to get donations towards our fundraising goal.’

If you’d like to support us, you can donate to our Thames Moonlight Walk fundraiser here.

Every donation will help Age UK East London continue providing activities, support and opportunities for older people across the local community.
