Travel Counsellors and The Travel Agent Next Door

Travel Counsellors, a leading global travel business dedicated to empowering individuals with a passion for travel to launch their own successful travel agencies, has expanded into North America with the acquisition of The Travel Agent Next Door (TTAND), Canada’s leading travel agent community.

We were delighted to work on this transaction. Our strategic consulting team, led by Martin Alcock, advised on commercial and regulatory matters.

The acquisition will enable both businesses to benefit from superior scale with over 3,900 professional travel business owners in the enlarged group, a more diversified international profile and cross-company knowledge sharing. Additionally, over time, TTAND’s 1,700-strong, fast-growing travel agent community will benefit from migrating to Travel Counsellors’ bespoke technology platform.

Steve Byrne, CEO of Travel Counsellors, shared:

“We’re excited to partner with Flemming and the team at TTAND, a business we’ve long admired for its entrepreneurial culture, strong community engagement, and exceptional customer care. Together, we’ll build on TTAND’s outstanding reputation and drive further success by combining our shared values of personalisation, innovation, and customer focus. This partnership represents a significant milestone in our mission to create a leading global travel platform that blends human expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver unparalleled service and peace of mind for customers.”

Flemming Friisdahl, CEO of TTAND, added:

“Travel Counsellors has always been a leader in supporting remote and flexible travel professionals, and I’m thrilled to partner with them for two key reasons: their alignment with TTAND’s culture of care and their commitment to innovation and technology. We’re excited to bring the benefits of Travel Counsellors’ market-leading tools and expertise to our team in Canada.”

It’s been a pleasure working with Richard Kelman, Ivan Bumstead, Steve Byrne, and the Travel Counsellors team to complete the deal. Wishing them and The Travel Agent Next Door a very successful future together.
