Speakers
Martin is one of TTC’s Directors and manages the day-to-day running of the business.
He also helps operators, lenders, and investors in the travel sector to fix a range of financial regulatory and strategic problems, often related to ATOL, ABTA or IATA.
Prior to TTC, Martin qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked in the ATOL department of the Civil Aviation Authority.
He is a prominent travel industry commentator, regularly sharing his opinions in The Telegraph, The Times, Wall Street Journal and on BBC television (though mainly the 5am slots that Simon Calder doesn’t fancy).
Having given up on his dream to play lead guitar for an international rock band, he now moonlights as an under-appreciated taxi driver for his two daughters. Thankfully, his years as a Sunderland supporter have taught him to cope well with disappointment.
With over ten years as an ATOL Analyst for the CAA’s Consumer Protection Group under his belt, Simon brought a wealth of travel experience to TTC when he joined in 2012.
He loves helping travel businesses fix regulatory and strategic problems, usually related to ATOL, ABTA or IATA. Simon works with a range of clients, from start-ups to large corporates requiring regulatory support.
Simon also works with several international companies, helping them implement expansion plans into the UK. He specialises in compliance with the Package Travel Regulations and the European Package Travel Directive and is a regular speaker at travel industry events.
When he’s not working, you can find Simon playing football (injuries permitting), cycling with his son or dancing with his daughter.
Sarah joined TTC from Virgin Holidays’ commercial strategy team in May 2020. She supports our clients and their finance teams with scenario forecasting, M&A, equity/debt raising and strategic decision making.
Her 13-year career with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ London, Sydney and New York offices, working on mergers and acquisitions, stock market listings and financial due diligence mean she is no stranger to high pressure and tight timescales.
Sarah loves travelling and has visited the four corners of the globe to ski in Mongolia, watch rugby in Japan, and track rhinos in Botswana. Nevertheless, she still maintains close links with her native North-East as an Advisory Board member of Newcastle University Business School and a trustee of the Students Union.
